Space now has derelict ships floating in it: one to three burnt-out hulls surrounded by debris, anywhere on any map, faction bases included.

How to find them

They have no beacon and don’t show on the map. You’re told when you’re close: at about 1,500 units a radio call comes in and the wreck is marked on your screen. From there it’s just a matter of getting closer.

Each map has one or two at a time. If nobody claims one in about 40 minutes, it’s lost to the void and another one appears later somewhere else.

How to claim them

Just like a technology blueprint: with the Collector. Get close, activate it and hold still for 5 seconds. Your screen tells you when you’re in range, and you can aim at any part of the wreck.

What they hold

Where What can come out
Faction base Nexite, one consumable and a small chance of a blueprint
Contested sector More Nexite, materials, one or two consumables and a better blueprint chance

They aren’t always alone

Some derelicts are bait. Halfway through the claim, raiders can jump in around you.

  • They attack everyone, whatever their faction, and they don’t give up the chase because you moved away.
  • The more pilots nearby, the more raiders arrive.
  • Kill them all and they leave a crate with what they had stolen, also picked up with the Collector.
  • Get far enough away and go a minute and a half without combat, and they pull out.

In a contested map it’s better not to go alone. And if you see another pilot claiming a wreck, it may be worth waiting to see what comes out before you move in.
